Contrast grey projection screens were developed as an alternative to white matte projection screens. Contrast grey projection screens work much like a white matte screen except that the grey coloring allows it to be used in a room that is not completely dark with a resulting picture high contrast image that is as good as it would be in a completely dark room. It is the grey coloring that absorbs the extra light providing good blacks, a high contrast and a quality image.

Contrast grey projection screens are cleaned like a white matte screen. They do not require extra care as they are quite durable. A wipe down with mild soapy water and a soft cloth should do just fine. It is also important to follow all manufacturers’ suggestions about cleaning and caring for the screen.

It is always important to not use anything that is harsh or abrasive on a projection screen. The screens are usually quite durable, but scratching can still occur with the use of any harsh or abrasive cleaning agent.

White matte projections screens are very popular in large part due their easy care, so it is no surprise that with the increased abilities of the higher contrast grey projection screen that they are becoming quite popular as well. People are finding that this easy to care for screen gives them the same ease of use as a white matte screen but with a much better picture quality due to the higher contrast between the colors being projected.
